Aims and Objectives
The Nicola Valley Explorers Society's primary aims are to assist in the development and maintenance of recreational trails and to promote hiking, cycling and other non-motorised trail use in the Nicola Valley region of southwest British Columbia.
The group has organized a number of hikes and cross-country ski outings since its formation in April, 1996. These have included hikes on the Hudson's Bay Company Brigade Trails in the upper Tulameen area and X-C skiing on sections of the Trans Canada Trail route through the Coldwater Valley.
The Nicola Valley Explorers also continue to work with Trails BC to develop a viable route for the Trans Canada Trail through the Coquihalla / Coldwater Corridor.
Activities and Meetings
The Nicola Valley Explorers usually meet at the Merritt Civic Centre meeting rooms on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM. The exception may be July, August and December. Check with the local newspapers and Shaw Cable for details. Meetings are open to visitors.
